Default I love my cam!!!

Wooohooooo! Damn after 1 day of driving all I have to say is holy ****! I can do non-brake stand burnouts now and hold them through most of 1st gear. Launch from 10mph and it just hooks and goes. 1st gear goes by like nothing now, and with the 3.0 pulley I'm pushing 9 lbs down low and 6 right before the shift. Damn....can't wait to get the rockers in! Right now I'm running the Vinci Ultra-Torque cam (210/218-551/551-116) and a set of comp cams dual springs, with stock pushrods and stock rockers. I will be putting the 1.8 rockers and chrome moly pushrods in later this week. And damn is it loud!

Those of you who are faster, I can't imagine the smile it must put on your face. I'm all giddy right now.

get a sound clip of that cam please, that's the 080 correct. I'm thinking about that one, but I would like to hear it.

Good job dude, I am glad that you got everything worked out with the rockers and got it figured out. I did not know that you put that a 3" inch pulley on that thing. Keep

Yep it's the 080. Thanks for the idea to put the stock rockers back on Beto, I didn't even think about it, was too frustrated about the other ones not working. I was freaked out that I might have screwed something up and I'd have to take it somewhere. But nope!

You must have a belt slip problem or some kind of restriction in the intake. Mine will build more boost the more rpm's I turn. You said yours drops to 6lbs right before the shift? Mine is hiting 13lbs at shift point with my 4.8 & 3.0" pulley.

OK here's a couple of videos, nothing special just some idle/revs. Quicktime.
Video 1 (5.87 megs)
Video 2 (6.39 megs)

The springs are very quiet, I had some of the sewing machine noise for a little bit after I first started it up, but that went away pretty quickly.

And some pics of the install.

I managed to not lose a single spring lock, which is good because I didn't have any extras. It helped to keep a finger over each valve stem as I tightened the spring compressor, and when the locks popped out of the retainer they didn't go anywhere. I also had a nice scare...dropped one of the cam gear bolts into the oil pan, but was able to snag it with a pen magnet before it dropped off the shelf on the front part. Timing wise, I had the front end stripped and cam installed after about 4 hours of work, then another 3.5 hours or so for the springs. I wasted a bunch of time on the rockers that I didn't get adjusted right, so they came back out and the stockers went back in for now.

Thanks!

Oh and I forgot to add....I used a pair of 1/4" metal rods to hold the lifters up while I had the cam out...worked like a charm! Got them from Ace hardware for something like $3 each.
