LOL @ Everything here. Man do i ever remember the day's of running off in the truck when i was 17 (im 21 now), sadly back then i had a 97 K1500 Sierra, and now ive got a 2wd 01 silverado & C5 Vette lol, but also have my own place so that makes things different.
As for 4wd conversion, i looked into converting my 01 into a 4wd, i determined the simplest way to do it was to have a donor 4wd with a good trans, front suspension and frame. Found a few high milage trucks sub $2k, but then i changed my mind on it, and decided to go 4/3 lift with 33's.
Maybe look for some new places where you dont need 4wd

I never understand why someone would take a 2wd and lift it and put mud terrains on it. Save your pennies and buy a 4x4. Then you can have much more fun in the dirt without calling big bro to get ya out. btw what part of texas are you from?
