Default Hypertech or LS1 edit???

i have a 99 5.3. I plan on many mods in the future. SHould i go with a PPIII or get an LS1 edit. Which do you prefer. Which one is actually better? I what to increase power and remove my top speed shutoff. Where can i get an edit? Would it help if i use the 160 stat? What is a BB mod?

There is only one place to get it....

http://carputing.com/

You need some good data logging/diagnostic software with it too.

www.carputing.com

you really need some kind of scan software too to really get down and dirty with edit. try www.obd2.com or www.autotap.com for that.

edit is more worth your wild. had the HPPIII and thought it was the worlds best thing, then i found out about edit. it makes the HPPIII look like a joke. everything that you can do with HPPIII you can do with edit and a ton more. dont worry about not understanding what it does, you will learn. not trying to scare you or anything but, you have to watch how you program. its a little more indepth than the HPPIII, more to than just punching yes and no. you'll need a laptop, or you have to move your computer into the garage. also EFILIVE or ATAP. there are also mail order tunes that you can get. these are better than the HPPIII programs but not quite as good as a custom tune.
hope this helps ya.

Daniel

Well heres the deal Thunder, i have a 99 5.3 Extended Cab 4wd. I have 9 inches of lift and i am runnin 38's. I have 4:11 gears, a K&N GenII intake, and true dual flowmaster exhaust. I want to completly rebuild my engine. I plan on changing heads, cam, rocker arms, springs, pushrods, throttle body, e-fans, 160 stat, intake manifold, headers, MAF sensor, either PPIII or LS1 edit, fuel injectors, fuel pump, ignition, spark plugs and cables, and after all that maybe a RADIX. It woul dbe great if someone could give me a big reply to this big question and tell me what to get. Im eager to learn about what and what not to get. However, i doubt anyone would take the time to all that typing haha. THanks man.

if your going to rebuild why not just purchase a 6.0 long block and stick that badboy in there with everything you mentioned doing?
also look at some longtube headers. that would help ya too.
i dont know if i would waste my time with a mass air flow sensor. tomany people say it doesnt help. radix is deffinatly on my list but its just not going to happen right now. good luck

ahhhh, so you are going to go internal. no doubt on the 6.0 at this point. if you are going to get that serious, get a 6.0 and build it, that is unless you have an unlimited bank account, then get a C5R block and go from there. definately stay away from the aftermarket MAF and any crappy mail order tunes. have patience my friend, everybody here will be glad to help you out anytime, that's why we are all here.
