also if you end up going with a hppIII get one used. there is probably a half dozen including the one i'm selling in the classified sect. $225 shipped. for $ 310 , i'll also give you an unused k&n drop in and a new 160 t-stat [recommended by hypertech]. much better deal and more power gain. e

i agree the custom tune is better being "custom" where the hppIII is a mass tune. i personally never had any detonation, matter of fact i scanned my hpp and compared it to the stock file. it really isn't very aggresive at all. if a truck was running really lean for some reason i could see it. you should see my current nelson tune compared to the hp. on the other hand the trans line pressure increase can be a bit much. still think it works good for a no brainer application. e

Wheni 1st was in the market for a programmer or custom tune I saw those Hypertechs and was like hell yeah thosre are cool as sh*t and everyone was telling me that Westers and Nelson are way better and not to waste my money on the Hypertech but I think that damn commercial and ads in the mags got me. I ahd it for 9 months and it was better than stock but after you find the right settings you will never screw with it again so you I wished I had just gotten a custom tune because unless I was gonna do gears or tires I would have never of messed with it again. Well one day I started to think why did i buy this if Im never gonna screww ith it so i went to my truck and started to put some new settings in it and for some reason it didnt flash my PCM so I tried to go back to stock and it wouldnt flash the stock tune back in ad my truck wouldnt start. Well after 4 hours of steadily trying to do it off and on and talking to the great customer service at Hypersh*t-LMAO! It finally took my stock tune back and when I called Hypertech to tell them they couldnt belive it actually flasged again--Thanks for the support you know! SO they gave me a RGA# and I sent it back and lets just say 1 1/2 weeks later I had a Nelson tune and couldnt believe I just didnt listen to what evryone had said about the Hypertech not being worth a crap! Dont make the same mistake I made and cancel your order with whoever is ripping you off my charging you more than $100 for the HPP3. Once you get a Nelson tune and you want to change tires or cam or put a SC on it you will have a free updated tune in your hands in a week. When I installed my PCM from Nelson it felt like I Hyperteched my Hypertechs Hypertech!
