Default HP guestimate anyone..........

This is a repost from Internal Engine....apparantly some over there feel us "Truck Guys" aren't worth worring about

And YES, thit is still the current combo of choice for me (EVEN the Patriot heads and relatively small cam)

Just a rough guestimate is fine......I'm just trying to see if I can build a stock-bore/stroke 6.0 that will make more power than a Magnacharger RADIX supercharger (for less money hopefully....this combo would cost me $3800 and some change), a RADIX will do 365ish to the tires on a truck like mine (and cost $4800)...you think this combo will equal that ??

Headers...............Dynatech SuperMaxx 6.0 Header System (already own)
Exhaust System....Magnaflow Silverado SS Side Exit w/ 4" Tip
Cam....................VHP "047" Grind - 210º/218º .531/.531 112LSA (may go *slightly* larger with this)
Heads.................Patriot Stage II LS1 Assembled Heads - 2.02/1.57 valves,
Block...................Stock bore and stroke 6.0
Patriot springs, keepers,and retainers
Rocker Arms........ Stock LS1 Rocker Arms (already own)
Pushrods.............Manley 7.400" Hardened Pushrods
Oil Pump.............TSP Ported LS6 Oil Pump
Timing Set...........Rollmaster Double-Roller Adjustable Timing Set
Transmission........4L80e

Thanks....

Why not just bolt on the Radix and be done? One weekend and you are finished. No pulling the motor, installing the motor.....countless hours of labor, down time of the vehicle. With the Radix its 8 hours and you are done and on the road with reliable, proven HP.

Just my .02, but what do I know

And you should take the est. you make for your motor rebuild and add 500-600 bucks to it for things that come up.

My guess...

You can check out an unlocked pull of a header/tuned 047 5.7 on the VHP site. 342hp.

Take that figure, lock it... +15hp?
With heads... +30hp

-20hp because these trucks never seem to make the numbers LS1's do...

367hp?

THEN AGAIN: 2bseen on Silveradoss did 333 hp and 362ft/lbs with Patriot heads, MTI B1 cam, headers, magnaflow muffler, volant intake, E-fans, and tuning.

I'm not sure which heads he went with, or which headers.

The reason I am looking at the heads/cam is because I have issues with the current heads that are on the motor (3 broken header bolts and they are the old-school iron heads to boot....and the cam is the littlest that was EVER put in an LSx motor). Before I bolt a RADIX on there I'm gonna need to swap the heads out anyway, as long as the heads, exhaust and intake are off I might as well swap out the cam, timing set and oil-pump......and if I can't do that in 8 hours there's a real problem, the headers and exhaust are just a given install on any truck so I'm not worried about those at all

Nothing against the RADIX Brian, but I NEED to upgrade the motor before I trust it to function well with ANY blower on it......

marc......thanks for the links, I'll check them out

moregrip.......................um, er, well........ahh forget it, I just don't have anything nice to say
