Default How much are we talkin??

First time to post here, this place seems a little more busier than the ls1truck forum over at ls1.com.. but here's my question..

If I were to get a hold of a T-56 tranny out of a Camaro or Trans Am and take it to a good tranny shop, how much would a conversion cost on a 2002 Silverado 5.3 short bed regular cab??

I was wanting to do this with my tax refund.

First...HAHAHA I didn't know anyone still went over to ls1.com!

Second, I don't know if the truck PCM is capable of using the T56. Is there any particiular reason you have to have a manual gear box in your truck?

Well. I absolutely love my truck.. i just hate driving an automatic. Its so boring, and i feel like i have more control. I am actually thinking about selling it just so i can have a standard.

geting a stick from a 4.8 to go in there would be a piece of cake, take the parts to a tranny shop and i cant see it costing that much, probably under 1k if you took them all the parts.

to do a t56 who knows, it would be a prety easy swap but might need some custom stuff made like a cross member, drive shaft, shifter(car one would be to short and might be to far forward or back). no guess on what all that would cost but your average tranny shop probably wouldn't want to do it.

What about a stage 3 shift kit? That would make you auto, not so automatic...

Hehe, then watch as your parts fall out the bottom...I think you can get a manual valve body for the 4L60E
