Default how much meat is there to the 5.3l

I was wondering how much meat there is to the 5.3l block i been thinking about doing some forged lower compression pistons and Cranking up the boost
Think it would be worth it in the end instead doing a 6l swap ..trying to do things cheap
I see that Y2khawk is making 700+ horsepower on a 348ci almost stock block
The 5.3 being iron would take lots of boost?
of course assuming i use ARP bolts everywhere.
think it's a good idea ?

give sloverado a shout, he is wanting to get my old 4.8 block and punch it out. besides, it's not the block that is the problem, it's the crap pistons and rods.

getting dished pistons to fit a stock bore 5.3 cost lots. it is a non common bore size so i ended up paying 960$ for a custom set of je dished pistons if i did it again i would get a 6l block or something and bore it to fit 5.7 pistons because they are easy to get and cheeper because they are more common. just my thoughts

Nick Agostino from ARE has said that the 5.3L block can be taken out to around 3.9"(.120" over). That way you could use a piston made for the LS1 motors in it. Diamond Pistons may have an "off the shelf" LS1 boost piston that would work. Just make sure you check the available piston sizes before you bore the block.
