Hey guys I am getting a turbo from trick and need to do a tranny upgrade and I am wondering how much hp can a stock 80 hold or if I should get a built one, i am doing a lot of 4wd racing..

Install a shift kit into a stock unit and with solid tuning/cooling it should handle at least 650 the wheels, some are running as much as 750 on a stock unit. Then again this will vary on the setup and weight of the vehicle.

Mine held around 400 rwhp for over 3 years. But at mid 500 rwhp it wouldn't shift right at wot, and now it's **** the bed when I put north of 600 rwhp to it.

 

Probably a dumb question buy will my 60's stall fit a 80 unit??

No it wont fit.

And its not too much to ask as others have done it, but I don't think its your best bet.

 

mine only lasted a few days with 625ish rwhp

 

Also depends on the year of the vehicle it came out of. I think mid 99 got a few good upgrades from gm.

 

What stage FLT 80 will hold good??
