My SS was weighed at 5,300 pounds with me in it and I believe they are rated to tow something like 7,500lb's.

I was just paging through the owners manual tonite and it said "vortex 6000 with 4.10 axle ratio, max total trailor weight-9,900lbs." im assuming thats us since the 2500 6.0s dont have 4.10s

Then again when i test drove the 03' it was 107* outside. LOL The 15* temps up here may make it quicker.
Mine was very-very tight and lazy when it was new. It loosens up real quick.

Did the 03 SS's have the Drive by Wire Throttle Bodies? If not, then I would take a chance and say the 03's will be by far quicker. My 04 Sierra with the wire driven Throttle body was a turd stock. Something about the drive by wire system holds them way back.

Yeah, they all got DBW's...

My acts exactly like a regular TB... I can't tell a difference what-so-ever. It's never tried to pull any games where it limits throttle or anything like that.

with the torque management these trucks are very needy...Many stories about the PCM tune being the best bang for the buck...DBW is noticible when doing WOT runs, the TM will prevent/slow the TB from opening as fast as possible...MY 03 will be tons faster that an 05, after I get my STS...

Default 2500 6.0s dont have 4.10s

what? I have my 01 2500HD sitting outside with 4:10 posi..... Its optional for like $250 standard was 3:73 and the towing # is right on....

05 models have e fans on everything except 2500+ style work trucks both gas and diesel.. The reason is solely for the gas mileage sticker on the window.. Its all about the Feds and the CAFE truck standard kids.... oh and the LQ4 model 6.0 still has the cable TB baby@!!!!
