Default how much is edit?

ive seen prices for around 450$ with all the cables needed for truck and to the laptop, does this sound right? if so then why not just send my pcm out to westers or nelsons for around the same price? i dont know were to start with edit but sure i can figure it out with all the boards on the subject. whats your suggestions?

You can get info on EDIT at www.carputing.com

Advantages to EDIT are that you can do it all yourself and don't have to hassle with having your truck tuned or sending/swapping PCM's.

You will also need some logging software too such as EFILive or AutoTap.

i bought mine about 4 months ago and i paid 550 for the software and cables. westers and nelsons are nice programs but they will not give the full potential out of your truck like a personal tune would. IMO a westers or nelson is just a step up from a HPPIII, or a Predator but a personal tune is ultimate tune that you can get. mine is still learning from the personal tune that i got from farmtruc last weekend.

If you do decide to go with Wester's, they send you a tuned pcm first (no down time) with your VIN and you can send yours back or pay an extra $170 to keep it. I am very pleased with the way it performs. They do good work and Lyndon is easy to get ahold of through email if you have any questions. It costs as much as the edit software. I've done all the modifications i'm going to do that require reprogramming (I think), so I went with the Wester's since I don't have or know anybody that has a laptop. They'll also update your pcm for free (almost free, shipping costs from Canada) if you make changes.

I am really thinking about getting edit, BUT, I don't know anything but the pure fundamentals abpout tuning. CAn I learn enough to make an effective tune without blowing things up??!!!!!

about another 350 for atap, or efilive. this allows you to moniter your A/F ratio and see exactly what the truck is doing. KR, Timing, etc...
good thing to have. helps you really get the most out of it.
