the bottom end in these things is almost bulletproof. Im spraying mine with a 225hp shot and shifting a little over 6300rpms and no problems yet. Ive herd of some guys with just cams running @6800rpms. Wow, you have a 5spd Z71. I didnt know they had those. You ever tried launching it in 4hi very hard? Ive always wondered how much those trannys could take.

I dont know much about the trannys they put in your truck, but i know that the ones they had a few years back were made by Muncie. If the one in your truck was made by Muncie too, id say the thing is tough as hell. My engine has almost 60k on it and ALOT of trips to the track. Its never missed a lick. The bottom ends are 6-bolt mains! It can take the rpms no prob IMO. If your doing high rpm shifts and launches you may want to look into a better clamping clutch.

I'm spinning it up to 6300 with 7 pounds of boost.

Parush is spinning his up to 6800, but he did replace the rod bolts with some better ones.

I wouldn't be worried about the bottom end, floating the valves is what I worry about. When I got a tune for my predator I asked to have the rev limiter set to 6300, they set it to 6550, so they must think its safe to run that high, I shift at 6000 with the cam. another question is will the tranny hold up at that high an rpm.

Just like you said ... valve float is what you need to worry about. If you have the LS6 springs or somehting better, then you will be safe up to about 6800 with a low lift cam.

With a stock bottom end, I shift mine at 6700. I would shift alittle higher, but my rev limiter is set at 6800.

The trannies are made by new venture gear, they arent the strongest trannies out there but they are ok. I dont know how long it would last but i dont think you need to worry about the t-case.

I shift at like 5800 right now but thats gonna change to about 6300 soon
