How high can you safely rev an '04 4.8L?

LS6 springs are not that big an upgrade, they work
for the 'vette because those LS6 heads also have
lightweight valves. If you want to slap regular valves
around like that you want a better spring and a
better pushrod. And you might as well step up to
at least a baby or "old man" cam as well. Then you
can really scream it.

That's interesting because I've always heard that the oil pump shaft was the weakest point of the old small block. It seems that GM went way out of their way to change this part of the engine. I don't know if the new system is any better because I'm just one of the many people who have had an oil pump failure on the LSx engine.
