I would do a 3000 stall, 4.10 gears, posi, transgo shift kit, air intake, and a custom tune. It just depends on how much money you want to spend on a stall converter as far as which brand to get. I have installed a TCI and it works great and is less than $500, there are other good ones as well.

I recommend you get some headers (long-tubes preferrably) unless you're not planning on going high performance on your truck. HP-Tuning and Nelson tuning seem promising (I've got HP-tuning on mine and no complaints here)...A P.I. 3400 Vigilante stall would be very good to your truck, 2800 or 3000 are also pretty decent, but not the tranny so make sure you get it fixed up (shift kit...blah blah blah)...4.10 gears, posi...In the end, it's all up to what you want to run...

all the mods in my sig have me in the 14's. if you had all of it your truck should be doing better depending on your elevation. didnt take too much to get me there.

I would say, get to the track and get the truck to run the best you can before you start throwing parts at it.
Driving and getting the truck down the track to its full potential is very important.
Then you can start to mod the truck. My truck is a 2wd rclb/5.3 and I have got it to run 14.91 and its dead stock and I think it will go 14.7.
When I hit the 14.7 then I will start to mod.

Good luck.

Where do you plan on racing? Freeway or stoplight to stoplight? Track?

If you're limited on budget I am hesitant to recomend your next mod without know where you plan on getting the most races. A stall is great for the track but without traction aids you're gonna lose more races with one on the street because of massive wheelspin. I would opt for more HP mods if it's mostly a street vehicle with no traction mods.... Otherwise a good stall with some Caltracs and QA-1s and sticky tires would PWN at the stoplight.

I would think a good cam, tune, exhaust would get a rcsb 2wd in the 14's. I would also install a shift kit and converter (my nexxt two mods)

Your goign to need alot to be in the 14's

I have a 2003 Silverado 5.3 2wd... With short headers, Cam 212-218, 4.10's PCMforless tune, CAI and the best I can manage is a 15.09.....

a RCSB 5.3L would be cake to get into the 14s. Heck that one guy just claimed to have done it stock and I know my 4.8L would be simple to get into the 14s consideing I ran 15.29@90.5mph basically stock.

I think your truck is either too heavy or you may need some tuning Cammin03'. When I had the z06 cam in my truck I was barely into the 14s but after the bigger cam swap and a real tune I was deep into the 14s. I probably weighed about as much as your truck even though mine is a 4x4.
