How do I tell if my 00' Silverado has Posi or not?

If the code is confusing the easiest way is to lift the rear axle off the ground ( safely as always ). Release the ebrake and turn one wheel. If wheels turn in the same direction, you have posi. If one turns in the opposite direction, peg leg ( old saying for regular differential ).

You are right on a posi but I think the G80 Gov lock units will act like a regular differential untill you turn one tire fast enough to activate the governor

if your truck has the traction control option all you have to do is push the button to turn it off. as for shift firmness, i wouldn't do it with programming. i'd install a good shift kit with billet servo's.

I'm sorry, I meant Torque management, not traction controll..
