Instructions for gear swap?
I was wondering if someone knew of a good step-by-step instruction sheet for swapping gears in a G80 rearend. I've got some 4.10 Richmond gears, their install kit, and new crush sleeves. I printed a few things off of Randy's Rng & Pinion website. I know I can do this just wondering if someone in the know can fill me in. Thanks.

I would also like to see this. And I have a set of richmond 4:10's that need to go in also. What is the part number of your gear set (I think mine are for the wrong diff)?
And a TTT for ya'

there is alot of things to the set up of the 10 bolt chevy but they are probably the simplest of them all. I can give you both tips
1. pull the lower pinion bearing off and reuse that shim.
2. blind install the pinion gear(without seal or crush sleave) to a spining torque of 18 in lbs.
3. reuse the all stock shims IN THEIR ORIGINAL POSITIONS first.
4. make double sure that all bearings are the same # and are completely seated.
5. torque all bolts to specs before checking backlash and contact pattern.
6. You want .008 to .010 backlash and the diff carrier side bearings must have preload.
7. If the side bearing shims need to be changed, make sure that the total thickness of both shims is the same as your replacements
8. use a air hammer to remove races. Much faster but be careful of the housing much softer material than races.
9. use loctite on final installation of all bolts.
10. on thse late model diffs, the rear cover must use a gasket, no silicone it will leak.
If you guys need aditional help let me know
