Default How Critical is it?.....

That I get an updated tune for my PCM with the installation of a Transgo Shift Kit, Corvette Servo, and Higher Stall Torque Converter? See I have an appointment to get all my trans stuff installed on my truck next Monday the 27th. I have been contacting Allen Nelson with Nelson Performance for an updated tune to remove the rest of the torque management and tunes for the converter and pulley and e-fans and a few other things that I am getting installed all at the same time. Well, its been over a week now since Allen told me that he would have the tune out to me and I have not got it yet and I won't be here at work tomorrow cause we're closed, so unless the pcm gets here in the next 2 hours, I'm pretty much screwed which pisses me off. I have left Nelson several emails and haven't been able to contact him on the phone to see where its at but I've gotten no word back on when to expect my updated tune.

Sorry went into rant mode there.

Anyways, just wondering if it would hurt anything to run the truck a few days without a tune and the trans stuff added on.

Do you have the shifts firmed up with the programming? If so, then I would drive it as little as possible and when you do drive it, do NOT let it shift under any amount of power that can be avoided.

Perfectly understandable ... your soapbox ride is excused.

Yeah, I do have the shifts firmed up with the current tuning, and I have 80% of the torque management removed.

I definitely figured that I should take it easy on the shifts. and it really wouldn't be that big of a deal, but I am getting G-Force Motorsports here to do the installs for me and they are offering the Christmas special of 10% off all installations. So if I don't do they install that day, then I have to pay the normal full price.

I would go ahead and do the install ... but i's pretty important to not let that thing shift itself to pieces. I mean, if it's barking the tires at half throttle, then it needs to be softened back up to stock in the tune, but if it's not doing that, then it will be OK until you can get an updated tune.

The TQM will be fine, you will just feel it pull timing, and since it's an 04, it will prolly pull throttle too. On the retune, I would have all TWM removed though.

Nelson has been pretty busy, he said there is a few weeks wait for the retunes. I ordered my LS1 fan harness and a retune about the first week of this month and its still not here.

Yeah, well, I am having Nelson, remove all the rest of my torque management and softening the shifts in my retune. Its just a matter of getting it here.

I know that Allen has been pretty busy lately. I too ordered my retune at the beginning of the month, so I would have plenty of time to get it here by the 27th for the installation of my transmission stuff. Like I said, he emailed me Sunday the 12th of this month that he had it and would be sending it out that week. Her it is over a week later and I have not heard a peep from him.

I'm not trying to bash Allen, I think he does great work and is usually timely on his re-tunes. I just hate to get the trans parts installed and then not get the updated tune for another 2 weeks and have to drive my truck for that period of time.

Or I could just get G-Force to tune it for me when I get it installed there.

Yeah, he told me on the 14th that mine was going out very soon and it still hasn't arrived. My fans are starting to give me the eye so I hope the harness and retune show up soon.

I didn't get a tune for about a month after I installed a PI 3200, transgo and billet servos and I beat on it hard...my tranny is still running strong with a tune even after about 10 bottles of nitrous and spraying through the shifts...on DRs. I guess I got lucky with my 60E.

I just got my 3k stall, shift kit and servos in (luckily I did it, the tranny had to be completely refreshed with only 33k on it band was burned etc.. alot of wear, if I hadnt had the install I wouldnt have known until it went out in 10k more miles after the manufacturers was up) so to make a long story short Ive got a fresh tran with tci street fighter/transgo installed and when ever the converter is locked in 4th gear at about 1500 rpms and 50 mph I get a wierd vibration/grating sound when I accelerate under partial throttle.
As for allen I think hes a great guy but, Ive been trying to contact him for a month now about the new tune, I've left voice mails, emails and a message with his office girl and still no reply I even called his friend Joe from Jag performance trying to get hold of him. Im really ready to be done with this so I can move on to other things.

If anybody knows about the vibration/noise please advise
Id also like to hear from Allen
