In my limited experience, the XR1s have a fairly loud, but nice and deep sound. I think they sound great, but highway resonance could be annoying if you travel in your truck.

as far as borla goes, I have borla on both of my trucks and I love them, and actually on both of mine at highway speeds it is pretty quite not like the flowmaster that I used to have those were pretty bad on the highway..... but thats my .02

There is no-way you would even last 10 secs in the bay when they begin the visual inspection under the truck. Not here in Houston, TX that is.
I would strip the cats in a sec if I could get away with it here.

In College Station, they just do a look around, like tail lights, wipers, signals and that's about it. No emissions testing at all. Legally, though, I believe it is only good in CS, but I can't see HPD pulling you over for a non-Houston emissions sticker. I was pulled over in Houston the other day for fishtailing around a median on a U-turn, but he did not mention my sticker, and no ticket either!
