Question Stock Air Tube??

Will the stock air tube that goes from the throttle body to the MAF work with the Volant system???
I want to bet that that with the stock air tube (advantage=air resevoir tank or also called torque tube) and the Volant air box will produce better miliage and more HP & TQ.

What do you guys think?

I think that performance increase that comes from the Volant is created by a combination of the the tube and the box.

I bet any increases or decreases you would see using the stock air tube would be minimal and perhaps not even measurable. However, the stock tube is definitely quieter, which is important to auto manufacturers.

If someone can show me the stock tube performed better, I would darn sure put it back on.

Only reason I say this is because I did a little research on the air reserve tube attached to the stock air intake tube.
The torque tube (is the term GM uses for it) is designed to give the engine more initial torque on the bottom end of the rpm band. Which is greatly needed for these engines due to the intake manifold design for the trucks.
Better low end torque= better miliage and more instant torque.
Even Volant says that the factory intake tube may produce bigger low end torque/ HP numbers and better miliage.
Therfore, I asked why even use their intake tube. They told me that they were not after more mpg, just a bigger average HP/ TQ figure over the stock intake system.
So, I guess the Volant intake tube makes more power in the mid-upper rpm ranges.
I'm thinking the torque tube needs to be incorporated onto the Volant intake tube, or maybe someone will try to make an air intake tube that is a one piece unit with the torque tube made onto it as a single molded design.

I still think trying the stock air tube will be worth trying.
Wish someone would dyno these changes, if it were convienent at the time.
