this is nuts, i just got in my monster injectors, spent the last 2 hours adjusting the injector flow rate, out for a nice cruze leting my ltrims get situated and guess who pulls up next to me at a red light? a new f150 harley supercharged truck! i had to hit it, it was in auto 4wd allready so i just left it there and after the light turned green i eased into it, wasnt sure if the harley was going to run me. he did,i waited to floor it till he was starting to pass me. i hammer it and the truck lunges hard, i instantly smoke the guy, but when the tranny goes for 2nd there is nothing there. just like the old days, no 2nd gear.
i am having the same symptoms that i had with the stock tranny, very late shift into 2nd(probably going strait to 3rd) then if i floor it it's like i am in neutral. i have the largest cooler i could find and i just hapened to be logging at the time and my highest tranny temp was 172deg.
i can't wait to see what FLP wants to do, this was their best unit from what i understand, the level IV with the extra 5sprag pinions. i cant believe it went bad so fast and i am no where near the power level i plan on seeing someday. still have stock longblock, no nitrous and only 7psi boost. i think the 5500lb's are what did it in.
looks like big tex will beat me into the 12's

Did you ever get your converter cleaned out or whatever they had to do? I heard that the clutch particles in the converter could contaminate the new tranny.
Either way, that sucks.

yep, i did everything right, paid $150 to have the converter cut open, cleaned, welded back, balanced and polished, not sure what they polished. they even told me it was clean inside. i even flushed out the cooler.

Sorry to hear the news....I have never been that confident with many performance trans shops (I have only dealt with one - level10 in NJ,) just got to learn and do it yourself (cheaper and if you screw up you know who's to blame.) I hope they have the customer service to take care of your issue in a timely fashion and don't leave you stranded until after the holiday. It got to be frustrating having taken the precautions to handle the extra power and still find component failure.
Good luck

parish8 - I haven't did any measuring yet but, the 4L80E should fit in your truck no problem. The frames are a little different between the non HD/HD trucks but the cabs/bodywork are the same. The only thing is you will probably need a crossmember out of a 4L80E truck and maybe a custom mount. Then the driveshafts will have to be shortened/lengthened.(4wd ) Oh yeah and you will need a new converter.
The computer will also need to be reflashed to a 4L80E specific model(6.0 2500HD). That's what Ken from Carputing(LS1edit) told me. Then you can edit that file.
I found some parted out 4L80E's for around $1000 in a link Neil 6.0 put up the other day. They'd still have to be built up but, that price is better than starting with a brand new one. I'll look for that post.
I will not be spending any money on a 4L60E. I don't want a trans. that I'm scared is gonna break everytime I hit the gas. The weight penalty of the 80 is worth it in my mind if your going for big power.

i believe i paid top dollar. it was $2100 plus shipping and they were highly recomended. i thought i was going with the best. they may very well be the best, it might just be all the weight and traction and the 4l60e just doesn't have a chance. i will try a 2nd one if that is what they want to do but i will be sure and put the guns too it before the warenty runs out.
if they want to just give my money back that would be ok too, i think i might just try and get a 4l80e in there. it's really up to them, there customer service is supose to be great so i will find out soon.

i am prety bumed today, i don't know what i am going to do. if the 4L60E can't take the power i am making now it will be worthless later.
i have to wonder if fighting a 4L80E in there would be worth the hasle and expence, more weight, worse gear ratios, doubtfull that it would just plug in so i would have to deal with that, probably longer and taller so tunnel mods(sledge hammer) and other drive line mods may be required. have to buy another converter too.
this appears to be a major set back, seems to me i have 2 options. pull back on the power a little, get the tranny fixed and then just drive the truck, have to be happy with mid-high 13's forever. or, turn the truck back to stock, sell it, go get a 3/4 ton and throw all my parts on there, probably loose 1/2 sec or so with the weight but at least i could keep building on it.
i don't like those options, what do i do?
