Default High Oil Pressure

I seems like my oil pressure has gone up quite a bit in the past month or two. When I hammer on the gas the oil pressure guage jumps to about 78 pounds. I don't have a clue what to check. Just wanted to see if any of you have had this problem and see if you think it will hurt anything.

That doesn't seem bad by any means. What have you done to your truck? 40psi +/-5 is what the average pressure is at idle, 45-65 at cruise, and 70-80 at WOT.

That's about where mine is at also. Over 40 psi at idle, and up to just about 80 at WOT (according to the factory guage).

Mine did that for a while and then went back down a month or so later. I am guessing it is ok because my truck still runs fine, might want to wait for someone else to chime in. Having more pressure should be better than having too little, I just don't know how much is too much.

The general rule is 10 lbs for every 1000 rpm. That is what I was taught all my life. My toy has a 350 in it and it pegs a 80 lbs guage in my dash at idle, It pegs the 120 lbs guage under my hood at wot.

Maybe I just didn't realize it before. I guess I am just looking for a reason to sale it and get an '05.
