Default High lift cam?

What are the benefits of going with a high lift cam such as the CC xtreme rpm high lift 212/218 .558/.563 115 over the CC xtreme rpm 212/218 .522/.529 114?

Higher lift cam lobes will open the valves further off of the seat, allowing for more flow in, more flow out, which equals more power. Downside to higher lift is decreased valvetrain life, mainly vavle springs.

valvetrain life? with the right spring set up ,is it really a measurable amount?
Think about this 16 valves raise .020 approx more, that is quiet a bit more air flow.

this amount of difference in lift? its free horse power, with no side effects

I wouldn't say it's a measurable amount, but it also seems to be a subject that not alot of folks address...as seen by the tumbleweeds blowing through my thread HERE

Seems that nobody has run a setup long enough to have a solid answer...the "right" springs (Comp 918's) are also more brittle and require a little tlc before being revved. They're intended for high performance applications, which is understood that some maintenance is involved...

As far as no side effects, that remains to be seen. Anytime that you work a part harder and push it's limits more, you will compromise it's integrity and decrease it's life.

Everyone drives different and everyone has there idea of shift points, all different springs and spring height set ups,to many vairiables as to what will hold up inspite of the fact that in general the highlift is stressing a little harder.

Good question.
Several years ago when i did this budget 6.0(which has been flawless) I went for this cheap $200 almost new cam.If I was going to buy a new cam it certainly would not have been this one.
