Default hey all... need some help and insight!

ok... i am starting to mod my 05 avalanche with the 5.3... so far i have had a custom bent 3 inch stainless exhaust with a BORLA XR-1 5 inch round case single tailpipe topped off with a dual outlet double wall tip (looks almost identical to the corsa exhaust... and i have added the cheap but effective spectre performace CAI kit...

my goal to this truck is i want a big lift thats enought to clear 37's or 38's and i want it to have some *****... BUT BE AN EVERYDAY DRIVER! i know its not a drag truck and its never gonna beat up on camaros and mustangs however i just want some good ole truck power...

what im asking is... i would like to supercharge or turbo the truck and maybe a cam if needed... but thats all... i will obviously need to get headers...

now since this is all i want then what do i do about my trans and tuning? converter? cooler? any internals to the trans? kinda clueless about trannies...

tuning? will a supercharger come with a tune? i dont have any tuners even close to me in buffalo NY... could i just go with like a diablo tune? just looking for a road to start going down and what you guys would do about either a supercharger or turbo?

For either a turbo or supercharger, I would suggest, as the bare minimum, vette sevos and shift kit. A fully built trans would be better though. A 212/218 114lsa would serve you well with either FI mod. As far as converters go, with the blower I would stay with the stock converter or maybe tb converter. With the turbo, depending on turbo size, I'd probably have 2600 as my minimum. Definitely get a Trans cooler though. A maggie or whipple would do you the most good if you're going to lift it for off road. Tuning, well thats easy. Pick a sponser and go with it. A roots or screw type blower will be easier to tune. For the turbo, you may find it in your interest to get a dyno tune. However I don't think you could go wrong with Nelson or any of the other sponsers. Good luck man.

I would have to say- 6.0 full of ARP,spec'd cam,headers,blower,tune,no more than 2600 converter,built trans ..

There are several sponsors on here that use the "auto cal" via efi live tuning software. They can tune your setup from afar as if they were in the truck with you...

In my opinion, stick with a supercharger for good low off road power. With tires that size and any type of Forced induction your tranny probably will not last, but you can make it last a little longer with a nice big trans cooler, a shiftkit, and probably a servo.

A good tune is everything so maybe you could conciser a drive to a dyno shop, i got my Tahoe flat bedded nearly 3 and a half hours to get my first initial tune after the turbo install. If your going to have lots of money into the engine and drive line you don't want to mess it all up with a crap tune.

well i would be willing to have my tranny built up a bit or to just buy a built trans... what would be my best option... i would like to retain everyday driveabilty... i really dont want my head snapping back under light throttle shifts... i have installed a transgo shift kit and vette servo into my 97 jimmy with the 4l60e... i watched the install video about 10 times to make sure i did everything ok! lol but as far as inside the trans... IM LOST! can a shift kit, servos, and a killer trans cooler really help hold up to power?

You really need a built trans if you want it to be reliable..

anything over 400 hp will start to shred your stock tranny , if your going to build up the motor for the lift, then you will want to ensure your investment with a tranny to match it........ Listen to the boys here, any of our sponsors can turn your truck anywhere in the world, they just wont be able to dyno them. Also our sponsors stand behind their work and come highly recommended by all the members of pt.net , dont waste the money with hand held tuners...
