I'm a deal motivated shopper...All the stuff on his truck is probably that much new, but used you can knock that down considerable on most stuff...I have a total of 10k in my buick including buying it and it runs bottom 11's all day long.

What I mean to say is I'm on a budget but I'm not dumb enough to think I'm gonna run 12's and only spend a grand.

I'm just looking for advise from people who have been there, so I don't make mistakes with my money which will end up killing the whole project.

Since that 12.14 I have added 60lb injectors, a Magnavolt , long tubes and upped to a 50 shot.
Yea you'll have to forgive me, that was all by memory. I knew you had swapped your old JBA shorties to longtubes, but I forgot you hadn't run them at the track with the new headers.

And now that I think about it even $15k is pretty conservative.

See this is exactally what I mean...I don't have the cash to buy 2 sets of headers.

Very good logic and exactly what this forum can help with. I could have saved some big $ had I done a little more research.
When I started I did not know this site existed.....or that there was anything more than the Hypertech for tuning
I think there are a couple of Radix systems up for grabs if your interesed. Blown Chevy had a great deal going a couple of days ago

Even if you find good deals you'll still spend $10k plus.

Just a quick list of stuff you'll need:
FLT tranny-can't really buy this used and I wouldn't go with anything else if you plan to run 12's- $2600
Cam/springs/pushrods-$400
Longtubes/ory-$400
Radix Supercharger-$3500
Gears-$150
Limited Slip-$350
Nitrous kit used-$400
Injectors-$200
Converter that will hold up to 550 rwhp-$500
U/D pulleys-$200
Methkit-$200
Tune-$400(can't buy used)
Gauges-$300-500
There's tons of stuff I forgot but all that stuff is $9800. It would take you at least a year to find all that stuff used. Not to mention you said you wanted reliability so you'll need good used stuff.

basically what happened there was he's in communist-california and got the shorties to be emmissions-legal, then when he got so far into modding, he just said F-it and got the longtubes

Oh I had no idea what circumstances made him want this change, I was just using it as an example.

No problem I am looking forward to hitting the track real soon. As soon as Rick@Synergy get's his 5.3 TT all squared away we'll see some SC vs. TT action

FLT tranny-can't really buy this used and I wouldn't go with anything else if you plan to run 12's- $2600 I agree with not buying used trannys, but I have a trans guy I trust that's cheaper
Cam/springs/pushrods-$400
Longtubes/ory-$400
Radix Supercharger-$3500 I saw a used STS for less than that the other day I thought
Gears-$150 No gears for me...The buick spoiled me on this still has stock gears in it
Limited Slip-$350
Nitrous kit used-$400 NOPE more like $200 local, but I don't plan on spraying it unless I don't buy a STS
Injectors-$200
Converter that will hold up to 550 rwhp-$500
U/D pulleys-$200 Nope don't believe they are enough gain for the money
Methkit-$200
Tune-$400(can't buy used)
Gauges-$300-500 Only a Boost gauge for me, plus I have a wideband from the Buick I can use

I have no problem looking for parts for YEARS, it took me 4 to build the Buick.
