crank position relearn?

 

Is it possible that the reluctor ring on the crankshaft, that the crank sensor uses for it's signal, got damaged somehow or came loose? Also, check the wiring to the crank sensor and make sure that it's not open or pinched anywhere.

 

If you know somebody that has HP Tuners or EFI Live they can do the crank relearn for you. The 6L will start and run on the 5.3L PCM, I did it. Even after adding a cam to the 6L it still ran ok. There is a sensor somewhere not picking up. Maybe re-check all your ground straps and wiring harnesses. Check for any fuses that could have gotten blown when messing with the battery during removal or install of the engine...

I'll just say after I got the 6L in I found out what it was like to get a Tahoe on 24's sideways. I used to turn the traction control off because I wanted to spin the tires with the 5.3 but couldn't. Now I leave it on so I don't get in a wreck when I punch it.
