help please. whats the stock exhaust configuration on a 2002 2500 hd 6.0
#1
i purchased a new to me truck that has some modifications done to the exhaust.
the truck is a 2002 6.0 2500 hd 2wd.
the exhaust manifolds look stock but after that??? it is running dual exaust to the tips with only what apear to be mufflers (football or bowling ball size) one on each pipe and that is it!
i do not see any cats.
i need to get the truck smogged but do not want to pay to fail a visual so i would like to see pictures or links to information about the stock configuration of this truck. thanks for your help
also, again, i dont think there are any cats but i am also getting no engine codes to indicate that the have been removed. it would imply to me it did not come with any. do i need cats on this truck?

A 2002 6.0L 2500 HD 2WD would have had dual head pipes, with a catalytic converter in each pipe going back into a into a single muffler and what appears to be dual exits out of the muffler, but in reality one of the exits only goes into a resonating chamber in the rear of the muffler and then it would have Y-‘d into a single tail-pipe. Sorry I don’t have any pictures, but this should still give you an idea as to what the stock configuration looked like.
For comparison purposes, a 4.8L or 5.3L in a ½ Ton would have had a Y-Pipe with a catalytic converter in each head pipe and a single pipe going back to the muffler, with a single tail-pipe finishing things up. The 8.1L trucks used a configuration similar to what the 6.0L trucks used.
