Might get some more help if you give a little better description of your problem

My bad. Don't know what happened there. Anyway, I am having a lil trouble when the truck starts up. On cold or warm starts, the truck sounds like it is about to die. The truck just sounds like it isn't getting enough fuel. I replaced the fuel filter and PCV valve about 3 weeks ago, but this just started happening about a week ago. Do you think I just got bad gas (hee hee), or do you think I just need some fuel injector cleaning (like Techron). Thanks for your replies

Care to fill those of us not in Texas in on this? I'm guessing from your screen name that we've got a BBC in a Silvy?

I have a 2wd 99 silverado ext cab with the 5.3 liter engine, and 66k miles. Don't know what a BBC in a silvy means. confused. Anyway, let me know if anyone has any ideas. today during lunch, the truck started then died. It then took about 3 attempts to get it started again. Thanks

It could have something to do with the Idle air controller. It's on the side of the throttle body and controls the amount of air let in at idle.

Let me look up the troubleshooting page in my manual and I'll get back with ya.

John

PS - BBC in a silvy. = Big Block Chevy in a Silverado.

I think 512 is his area code. It could be IAC, but I would clean your MAF with Carb cleaner to start with. If you know anyone with a scanner, you will be able to diagnose what the problem is better. If it is your IAC you would more than likely have rough idle all the time, like I have.

Thanks for the input. I figured out BBC right after I submitted my reply, and yes, 512 is my area code. I'll check out my IAC tonight and see whats up. I cleaned out my MAF about 3 months ago (for the 1st time)...how often should that be done?
