Default Help Me Pick A Muffler!!!!

Well im tired of my XR1 and im looking for somthing that will perform without the noise and have a mellow tone. My mods are down below, I had thought about running about a 12" of straight pipe from my y-pipe and welding a Hushpower muffler with turndown before the axle..What are your thoughts??

2009 Silverado
5.3L/Auto
Ported TB
42lbs Injectors
TVS1900
LPP Lts w/ory
Borla XR1 but its not staying on..

I have quieted down my catless, Lt loudmouth I exhaust twice. The first time was with some Borla resonated tips, but they really killed the sound down to almost stock level so I removed them. The second time was with a pair of dynomax bullet mufflers, the shortest ones they make. I put one on each pipe just after the rear axle before my tips. Still had a nice tone but really took the edge of the loudmouth. Might want to try one in front or behind the borla.

A 22" case Magnaflow should give you a mellow tone at idle but a nice growl at WOT, I've heard them throughout the RPM range and really liked the way it sounds

Yea, the length of the tail pipe(s) will make a big difference My Gibson cat back was way too quiet until I removed the tailpipes that ran to the rear bumper and dumped it before the axle, now it's like a completely different exhaust, much louder!

I have always had good luck out of glasspack style mufflers. In particular I like Sweet Thunders in a 3" x pipe setup. I can testify that a dump before the axle leads to alot of in-cab vibration and drone at cruising speed. Experienced this on my T/A and a K5 Blazer. Im going to have the exhaust on my silverado dumped out the side in front of the passenger side tire. Im going to start with a Flowmaster super 40, and probably change to something else depending on how far I mod it.

I say go with a Hushpower or a big delta flow Flowmaster. The tube style Magnaflow would suit your needs based on the characteristics you are looking for and wont sacrifice exhaust flow.
