help lifters wont stay up

its not the rods thats not working. i cant get the lifters to even move enough to put any rod in there. when i use a pen magnet to pull the first lifter up to put the rod in the magnet just pops right off. its like something is holding the lifters down

built my own lifter tools. that took me 2 hours. had to go to my body shop twice to get some grinding disks. now i finally got the tools in. just need to know if the lifter will fall a little when you take the cam out. maybe 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch i can see thru the breather hole in the block. i put 6 pushrods in to see if i could push the lifters down and they move like less than 1/8 of an inch. also if i use assembly lube on my cam how long do i need to wait till i change the oil again? 100 miles?
on another note you ever look into a stock truck intake? kinda crappy looking if you ask me. theres no runners in it just one little hole maybe 1 inch in diamater at the very end that feeds all the runners. now i know what they mean when they puddle the fuel

i got it done for today. just put the rockers back on. now all i got to do is put the timing cover and all that other crap on in the morning and it will be ready to move. thanks for the info guys
