Exclamation Help! Just bought a '00 LQ4...

Hey guys... I bought me an LQ4 yesterday on ebay and found out today that the '99-'00 6.0s have a longer crank. I heard you can't bolt this crank to a 4l60e. I was just wondering if any of you guys have found a way around this without swaping cranks.

Exespensive Hybrid Tourqe converter But for the G your gonna shell out on one, Just get another crank there only about $50-$100 used. I can get you one in California but juding by the fact you removed your cats and cut your exahust off at theY pipe, Your probally no wear near here.

take the spacer off your 80e flexplate and drill 3 new holes for the 60e torque converter to bolt to. If the motor came with flexlate chances are it doesn't have a spacer so just drill the holes

So that's the trick for mating a 99-00 6.0 to a 4L60E? I've read conflicting reports, but then LowLQ4 (I think that's his screen name) posted that he did it I believe...

Low_LQ4 might have done that at one point since he went thru something like 6 60e's. Do it right the first time and stab and 80e behind it and you wont have worries.

2001 up 6.0L had the flexplate spacer, he has a 2000 wich has a longer rear crank snout and will only work behind a 4L80E Unless he buys a Hibrid converter...

99-00 LQ4 had a longer rear crank snout. In 01 they started using the same crank with the short snout like a standard LS1 and 5.3L.

The standard rear flange is like .860 The od ball 99-00 crank this guy will have will be 1.250

yep everyone and their brother knows this... re read my post and think about it in your head. If his motor came with a flexplate it probably doesn't have a spacer on it just the flat 80e flexplate.

If you measure from the bellhousing mating surface of the engine to the back side of the flexplate where the torque converter mounts it will be the same distance whether it is a 99-00 w/o a spacer or an 01+ w/the spacer installed as well as a 4.8/5.3/ls1 w/the dished 60e style flexplate (dished so it doesn't need a spacer) If the distance from the block to the flexplate is common for all of these setups and the only real difference being the torque converter bolt pattern then that is the only thing that needs to be changed to run a 60e transmission.... Just re drill the holes
