Exclamation help with cam selection..

well, the ZZ4 cam is a good mild cam, great off idle torque and would have been great if i still wanted to lift and off road my truck. but thats not the case. my truck is now lowered with some smaller street tires. and very soon, ill be rebuilding an axle with 4.10 gears. after that a TT2800 rmp converter.

so im on the search for a more aggrasive cam. im still a noob engine builder and dont completly understand the throey behind cams.

a good friend pointed me to a crower 214/220 @ .050, 114 LSA, .507" / .531" lift with 1.6 rockers

the ZZ4 is 208/221 @ .050 with a 112 LSA

i have 1.6 roller tip rockers in 906 vortec heads, i ported and polished them, and using bee hive 918 springs. im also running long tube headers with full 2.5 inch duals.

so whats yalls thoughts on this?

P.S. this is a 97 k1500

I'll bump this to the top for you since nobody has responded yet, but most of the guys around here are running GENIII stuff, especially since this site is a spin-off of LS1Tech.com. I used to be into the small block chevy's, even had one of the first gen ZZ motors with a newer gen ZZ cam in it (can't rember what ZZx's they were lol), but I've been out of that game for at least 10 years now so I'm way out of touch. There's a member here running a sbc in his NBS, I believe his screen name is something like silveradoMykk, or something along those lines. If you can track him down and shoot him a PM he might be able to help. Good luck

look for something with at least a 10* degree split on a 112 or 113 those heads are basicly iron LT1 castings. Try something like a hot cam, I made great power with it.

Or I also like the crane 210/224 on a 112 that cam makes a ton of torque.

My buddies immpy went 12.25 @ 108 with it Weighing in at 4200

I've always liked the cams Lingenfelter has ground for the older SBC's.
Part # 74216 is a Hyd. Roller listed as: 213/219 .493/.506 112 w/1.6's.

By the numbers it's close to the Crower cam you're buddy recommended, but while I've never ran the Crower, I can say the Lingenfelter version works quite well.
