help with cam (4.8)
#1
i have an 05 4.8 and looking for a good cam. im having trouble finding the exact one i want. if i understand what i read when you get a cam that sounds choppy it is because the lsa is higher which usually means it is going to help your mid-high end range and hurt your low end. but if you get one that helps your low end it will idle smooth almost like a stock cam. overall i want the best of both worlds...meaning plenty of low end but still have that sweet choppy sound.
so if you have any suggestions/experience/corrections to what i said, or anything let me know. id appreciate it.
thanks

there are alot of threads on cams at the moment..
but I've been told you don't wanna go much bigger then say 224/224 for the little 4.8. Even that size is pushing it.
the best way to set up for "high end" is to get a high stall so your not really worried about hurting your low end... by the time you launch your arleady in the power curve and just get up and go anyway..

A word to the wise..
if you are leaning to the 224..
be aware of the major tuning that will have to be done to get it to run just right..
You can get a tune for it and it will run..
but in order to get Great results from it you will need to have it tuned correctly.
I also agree..
anything bigger that the 224 is to big for the 4.8L
if you had a list of cams that started off with mild and went to wild..
the 224 would be on the other side of wild.

Who's going to tune this for you? Don't bother with a mail-order tune. It won't fly.
Why not just get a custom grind 220/220 on 110 lsa? That would lope just as hard and not be as big of a bitch to tune.
