Talking Help with cam

I know, I know, there's a cam sticky. The problem is nobody listens to me because it's not my thread. SO........ How does a 220/224 cam sound? Or is that too big for a 5.3L? Some idling clips would be nice too, and I don't care that much about the idle/lope or driveability because I only drive a little over 100 miles a week.

How does it sound for use, or how does it actually sound? As for use, it all depends on what you're wanting, and your specific application.

I actually like that cam. That would be about one of the only other cams besides the one that I am currently using that I would consider. I would have a noticable lope to it, but not terribly aggressive. You would definitely need about a 3000 stall converter depending on what gear you are using. If this one is on a 114 LSA, it wouldn't be too difficult to get to idle correctly, and would produce some noticable gains. I don't know anyone using this cam though. I have seen guys using slightly larger cams than this though in the 5.3 with no troubles. It would sacrifice a little low end but that is what you would want the higher stall converter for. It should produce nice mid to high range numbers though. I say go for it.

Yep, already planning on a 3000 stall, just trying to find a BIG cam but not too big.

I don't think you'll be real impressed with it on the stock converter. Just my 2 cents. But the power will bog down low and then come in strong in the upper rpms.
