Default Help with body control moduel please.

Where is the body control moduel on a 2003 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 V8? Is this hard to get at and to replace? Thank you for any help!

One thing Chevy did not change on the 2003 models is the location of the bcm. It is under the steering column. Remove the knee panel under the column and there you go.

What exactly does the BCM control?

More like what doesn't it control. Basically everything electronic inside the cab, along with outside lights. They cause alot of weird electrical problems too (I work at a Chevy dealer)

Thanks Gary! My door chime sometimes skips. It will chime 4 times then after a short delay (maybe 3 seconds) it will chime a 5th time. All other electrical stuff seems fine. Would this be caused by the BCM?

What is involved in changing this out? Would the dealer have to tear apart the dash to get to it? I don't want them to have to take my whole interior apart.

Nope, you can do it but there is a procedure that you will have to do so your pcm will recognize the new bcm and your truck will start. I don't have it on me right now but it takes about an hour to synch the bcm to the pcm.
