i killed my old laptop and am trying to get another one working. it has windows xp on it. i couldn't get my old atap software to work on it so i upgraded to the latest 2.04 software. the software loaded up ok but it comes up with an error when i hook up the truck. something like "input past end of file".
any ideas guys?
i will call B&B tomorrow but thought someone might have an idea.

Jim - I have the old version 2.10 if you want to try that. I don't know if you can still download it from the B&B site anymore.
Don't know about the new version I've been using EFILive for a while now.

If you had the ole software on before 2.04, that is your problem. Uninstall the all ataps you currently have on the machine. Then go to C:\Program Files\AutoTap Diagnostic Scan Tool and delete the entire folder. Now reinstall the latest version. That should work for you.

Yep, v2.10 copyright 2001
I'll put it up on my site and give you the link.
EFILive CRUSHES Autotap. Faster logging and a very nice playback/viewer. You can also create your own equations using logged items and see them in real time.(Ex: create a duty cycle equation for injectors) VERY NICE stuff.
Try what BigKID said first. That is probably the problem.

You should be able to have a DOS and windows program running at the same time. Just set the properties for the DOS window so it's not fullscreen. That way you can switch back and forth. If they both log through the serial port I don't know how that'll work though even with a multiport adapter.
Check your PM's for the link to the DOS v2.10.

grrrr, dos sucks, i was able to get it to work but i still think there is something wrong.
i haven't heard back from atap but i think i have 2 options. buy the newer cable or install windows 98 on my lap top. i have had a few people tell me that windows 98 is way better than xp anyway but what do i know.
i think i will try the windows aproach, dont really feel like spending more money on something that all ready worked fine.
