Sorry to give poor advise on the intake. The last big block I worked on did have coolant in the intake. Yes, it has been a few years. One last thought, you can always pull an oil sample and send it in for testing. It will show you in PPM (parts per million) how much coolant, if any is in your oil sample. Though not usually done on gas powered engines, it will give you a wealth of information on the internal condition of your engine. Good luck with your truck.

I would look very close at the water pump. just changed Mine at 83K miles, will leak on the belts and sling around under the hood. some times only leak when cold/overnight with no pressure on system.
good luck

The water pump is about the most inexpensive component that could have failed causing the problem. I'd say you're in good shape. They're cheap.

I haven't had the problem with mine despite "abuse" (5000+ shiftpoints on stock valvetrain, etc...)
Dex-Cool has a very distinct smell. If you're familiar with the smell you're looking for it's possible to pick it up standing next to the truck without the hood even open in very small concentrations.
For your oil change - I might suggest that you drain the oil into clear juice jugs. Let it stand for a few days and any water in the oil will begin to settle out. Another sign, as you're pouring the oil, is the appearance of lighter strands or streaks in the oil. Oil mixed with water or coolant looks more like chocolate than soy sauce.
James, I have the leak from the bottom of exhaust manifold as you say here and am curious if your findings and next steps. I sent you a PM, thanks
