Default help 4.3 to 6.0???

I have a 2002 silverado, 4wd, 4.3 liter, 5spd. I have been thinkin about putting a 6.0 in, an LQ4 is basically the 6.0 in the hd right? also which tranny would i have to use, should i just use my tranny in my truck now or would i have to get the manual tranny for the 6.0 or are they the same? any info please?

bottom line its that it's alot of work. It would require an entire longblock with all accessories, intake, motor mounts, wiring harness, computer, etc. also your transmission probably won't get along with it, it would work, but the 5 speeds are known for being rather weak - being that you have a manual transmission setup anyway you could allways do a T56 (6 speed manual) swap.... basically it would be easier to just get a V8 truck to start with, but if you have a particular affection for your truck and unlimited funds it can be done.

yea man....i have a 4.3l too and i was going to swap in the 6.0. i had the engine wiring harness alt basically everything i needed i even ordered LT headers and an aftermarket intake. when it came down to it i was going to have to replace/shorten my driveshaft...fan shroud didnt fit....whole wiring harness re wired and i couldnt find anyone who would do it for a reasonable price. My honest opinon which i know everyone who has a v6 hates to hear this but buy a v8 setup....atleast a 4.8 because everything will swap over alot smoother. thats what im doing now. total it would probably cost over 6k...sel your truck and use that 6k on a bigger motor in a newer truck...just my 2 cents.

So my friend bought an 04 silverado with a 4.3, what exactly would he need to do a 6.0 swap? Is it very expensive?

COMPLETE 6.0 like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VORT...46744QQtcZphoto

That is a 5.3 but the 6.0 needs to be that complete.

2.a custom tune like NELSON PERFORMANCE
3.modified wiring harness, send him the v8 truck harness and he will make it work, this is pretty cheap! (current performance wiring)

4.99-04 half ton v8 engine mounts
5.99-04 half ton v8 frame mounts (for engine mounts)
6.after market cold air intake
7. some fuel line hose to tie into the current line frim the fuel filter under the truck, or purchase the v8 fuel line from the dealer.
8. Headers (Pacesetter Longtubes) recomended
9.Pacesetter ORY pipe
10. Muffler of choice
11.Eaton LSD with gear of choice, i recomend 4:10's
can be a different brand but i recomend eaton..
13. A nicely built tranny
12.and some time

while the motor is out you could throw in a cam etc.

This is not a cheap project, i recomend purchasing parts sparingly until you get everything unless youve got 4-5 K to just drop into it.

But if for some reason he wishes to use his stock tranny and its a 4l60e it WILL bolt up there will be a different bell housing on the v6 tranny but it will still work, Not for long though if its stock!

I got an 06 with the 4.3L Auto.... and i am also wondering how much is involved in swapping the V6 for the 6.0L?

Could my auto tranny work with a 6.0L? How about the rear end?

Thanks in advance

yes and yes But please note:

This swap is expensive because you DONT use your stock tranny or your stock REAREND.

But will they work?
Sure they will, for a very short time!
