Default Help 305 AIR / EGR system removal?!?!

hey guys i just put true duals w/o cats on my 83 K5 305, (its emissions exempt cuz its reg'd as historic) basically i have been searching for a writeup on removal of the AIR system and cant find much other than discussion on what it does. Without the cat it is just dead weight, when i remove it do i just crimp the lines, remove the pump and pull and plug the hoses? anyone know what belt to use and how to route it??
i am not really worried about the EGR cuz i heard when removed u will just burn fuel anyway.
i know the guys do this on the camaros and firebirds all the time but i cant find much info on how to actually go about it
Lookin for someone to point me in the right direction??

Thanks

Just take the vacuum hose off the egr valve and put a screw or some type of plug in the vacuum line. No more egr.

Can't remember...I "think" it is a different belt that can just be taken off. At least that was the case with my 86 c10...My memory is failing. Someone correct me if I am wrong. You should be able to just look at it and tell. If it is a separate belt...like I think, then save yourself some trouble and cut it off, instead of taking the entire vbelt assembly off just to get that belt, I think it is behind all the other up front. Should be 3...or 4 with smog...Don't flame if this is incorrect.
Or post some pics to get a definite answer.
I pulled all my smog/vbelt crapola off and went with a serpentine setup off an iroc, and went with ls1 fans..

I just went to the parts store and they looked up the belt size without the A.I.R. pump. Just take off the pump and manifolds. Don't cut the tubes and crimp them, buy brass plugs for the holes if you are keeping the stock exhaust manifold. A parts store can help you with these as well. After you remove the A.I.R. manifolds there are small tubes that are in the holes in your exhaust manifolds. You will want to remove those before you put the brass plugs in. I had to use a square EZ out to twist them and break them loose. They are about two inches long with a rolled edge on one end to keep them in place.

As far as EGR, GM Performance Parts makes a block off plate for the EGR valve. Buy one of those. You will need shorter bolts to install the plate.

I think if its over 25 years old it qualifies as Historical to antique. I register My 70 nova every few years with no inspection needed here in TX.
