Help with 2010 Silverado 1500
#1
First time post, lets see what kind of action we get!
I am looking to pick up a completely stock 2010 Silverado with a 5.3 Vortec. Planning on adding some bolt on's along with a leveling kit and new wheels. I am completely new to the majority of all of this so I am open to all suggestions and ideas to build this truck. Let's see what ya got!
Thanks in advance!

Well that is the thing, I am not 100% sure. Just quickly thinking about it, I am looking for something that has the best of all worlds rolled up into one. I.E. Beinging able to get off-road a bit, something that is kind of quick on the street, and something that can tow the boat and trailer without an issue. All the while with an aggressive look. It is going to be a daily driver so I am not trying to murder the gas mileage either.
Is this something I can accomplish with a gasser? Or should I look into a diesel.

3 options: (least to most expensive)
1. Buy and transplant in a 6.0/6.2l (don't cam it)
2. Buy a $5000 supercharger such as TVS1900 or Whipple
3. Buy a diesel truck
I'm completely serious. In fact, bookmark this post. In 3 years, when you get rid of the truck because you can't stand all the little issues and problems from the bolt-ons and other aftermarket parts, this post will be here to say, "I told you so."
And this is not me being a jerk at all. I'm telling you the honest to goodness truth that most people wont admit.
Everyone will say, "You can add headers (~$500), catback (~$500), Cold air intake (~$250), a stall (~$500), gears (~$500), a tune (~$300), a cam (~$800). Then, what will you have? A loud, slow piece of rattling junk. For $3300....
What did I do? I got the 6.2....

Start with a 6.2 then and you will not be disappointed. A 6.2 will stock will run twice as good as the 5.3 with 0 mods. Unless you are planning on wanting insane amounts of power a stock 6.2 with nothing more than a tune will meet the needs of even the most power hungry and still be stone reliable. A 5.3 is a smoking pile of
The only way to get a 5.3 to run is with major surgery and cash flow.
If you have not purchased the truck keep looking and you will be glad you did. I love my 11' 6.2 4x short crew. I swapped the muffler and did a nice little tune on the engine and transmission and it is a complete beast.

Wow. Almost unanimous with the 6.2 route. Yes I am still looking and now y'all have the wheels turning. How does the 6.2 compare to their fellow competitors? I feel like every ******* I know is rocking a power-stroke these days and another is cruising a cummins. Also, are some years better than others?
