Default Heads and Cam Are IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We started at 9:15 this morning and finished at 8:00 tonight (with lunch break and a*few* beer breaks thrown in)....it was ALOT easier than I expected it to me !!

My initial feelings......it needs to be tuned again

it has WAY more low-end and mid-range than it had before, it stalls to about 2400rpm now, and my shift-points at 5400rpm should be about 400-500rpm higher. I idles REALLY nice (nice smooth lope to it and the stock idle speed is fine), I'm pretty sure I'm pulling alot of timing right now (10.1:1 CR and 89 octane don't mix well...I'm filling that tank tomorrow with 91) and it has just alittle bit of a warm-start issue that I think tuning will fix (it hesitates *just* a little occasionally on a warm-start)

I can honestly say.....I COULD have gone bigger with the cam and still have been happy, but this kind of performance untuned makes me INCREDIBLY happy !!!!

input is welcome !!!

SWEET! Its all in the gaskets, right?

Get back out there and get some miles on that thing. Aren't you glad you didn't wait 6 more months for some shop to hand port your heads?

sounds like a sweet setup. i could never do that much work on my truck with beer breaks. i would never make it to the finish line in one day.

Couldn't have done it without you Tex !!!!

I'm gonna put about 200 miles on it tomorrow....I'm going to Vegas to hopefully have it tuned (assuming I'm not so sore I can't move tomorrow....GM REALLY needs to relocate that damn hood release, I've got bruises ALL OVER my stomach and chest from that freakin' thing...next truck I own is getting lowered FIRST !!!)

Ive been sitting here for 5 days now staring at my heads, rods, cam, and gasket kit sitting on my kitchen counter I have to mess with them at least a once a day to make shore they are ok. Theyre finally going in on tuesday or the coming weekend. Its driving me nuts Im having dreams about truck parts.

Damn man you must be pretty big to not be able to fit between the engine and radiator. Im 5'9 and around 235 and my legs are real big and I still fit alright.
I cant wait to hear what that thing puts down.
