Default headers are on...

and are f***ing loud...is all i have to say. Im not subject to an emission test, but do have to pass a visual check, which right now with an ORy pipe, I won't do. Ben suggested having a pair of dynomax bullets welded in at the end of the collectors, and that should quiet it down and pass the visual. if i do that though, would it sound bad if i ran a magnaflow race muffler too? just trying to figure out how to go about this.

cliff notes:
headers and y pipe installed, wont pass visual emission check
debating on using dynomax bullets as "cats" and then running a magnaflow race muffler
sounds like what?

That should work okay.

If you knew before hand about the visual you should have looked into OBX headers/y pipe...they come with dummy cats

what headers did you go with? What year truck?

bullets will reduce/remove the rasp. It will make what ever catback you use sound deeper and smoother

I still don't understand how you'll be able to pass with that smell. The smell without cats is blatantly evident.

why not find some old gutted shells, and have someone weld/clamp the shells on over where they would normally be after the headers?

cheap fix, and keep the loudness.

pacesetters... ORY... E-cut out and a stock muffler is my setup... i pass emissions and visual.... when you have a stock muffler they dont think about climbin under to look... and i like the way the stock muffler sounds to... quiet.. but a car guy will know something is different when you bring the rpms up..... best of both worlds too.. loud or quiet.......
