Default header question

alright i raced some yellow silverado and the guy beat me and it really pissed me off. so i was thinking about getting a new set of headers. right now i have edlebrock headers and i like them but i think i would get more performance out of a set of long tubes. plus i think it would help out a lot if the headers were coated, mine aren't. anyways i was just wondering who had the best set of headers? i would probably end up getting the AS&M headers but are there any better ones? yes money is an issue... what is the part number for the ones i would need. i have the '99 silverado with i guess the egr connector? any help would be appreciated.... thanks

I'd get pacesetter LT headers and buy the coated ones, especially if money is an issue. What are your other mods? what did the yellow truck look like and where did you race him at?

well money isn't that big of an issue. but i was thinking either the arizona speed & marine or the super maxx. i have a 99 silverado w/ 5.3 and all the bolt ons.

which one would yall suggest? am i not going to see that much gain out of a 1400 dollar set?

get the pacesetters way better than AS&M headers AS&M headers have a 2.5'' flange instead of a 3'' way better looks good fits good and half the price that the extra money and get another mod.

i dont know if they are way better, but i agree get the pacesetters if you can. (2wd trucks only) they look great, big collector, great results, and best of all, great price.

First of all, headers are not going to get you by him unless he beat you by a few inches. I've gotten to where I don't even recommend long tubes in these trucks with out a cam. IMO, it's kind of like eating a cookie with out the chips. They are good by them selves, but are much better when together. I do have AS&M's but would really like to have 3" collectors. So I would by the Pacesetters now if I was buying new. You want to beat him, do a cam swap and tune it, then get the headers later and update the tune. If money is not that much of an issue, go over to Pearland and talk to the guys at G-Force.
