Header fitment questions

Default Header fitment questions

So, it seems that '96-up Vortec motors have different header fitment to pre-'96 trucks, according to Summit at least. Is there a reason, besides EGR or rear O2's? If I plan to delete both, can I run headers from an older TBI motor, or is it a chassis fitment issue? Trying to find a cheap set of LT's for this '97 that I picked up, and this is my first time working with one of the older motors instead of an LS. Thanks!!
