Exclamation Head Question???? Milling some 243's for my 5.3

I've been thinking of another project. Been looking at getting some 243 heads for my 05 5.3. I have 706 heads on now (stock). I am wanting a little more power. I have a really good tuner. Using HP tuner and a wide band. I am wanting some bigger valves and a little more airflow. I will be putting a TBSS intake and 92mm TB. Are the pistons the same on the 2001 LS6's as my truck. And if my calculations are correct, I would just need to mill the heads .0231 to get the proper Combustion Chamber Volume. That is if the pistons are the same. Or is there a better way of getting some good power with a different set of heads?

IMO I would get a set of L92 heads from GMPP. Those have huge valves and flow better stock than any of the other heads ported. The Vette pistons are flat top yours are dished.

you can't put L92 heads on a 5.3 bore.

Why is that? You can still seal with 4.00 head gaskets on the smaller bore. Is the valve that big that it contacts the cylinder walls?

yes. you need atleast a 4.0" bore to run L92 heads due to valve size.

A set of LS6 patriot heads with the 2.02 intake valves would work well.

I ran 243's on my 03 5.3 they made a good boost in power.I milled them .040 and that worked out really well.
