personally, i wouldn't spend the money on ls1 heads. i would just get some work done to your heads. or keep your stock heads and throw in a cam. or long tubes, u still need some of those too! <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Stock for stock, our heads flow better than LS1 heads. I would do some mild P/P and bigger valves and springs. Basically a stage 1 setup with what you have.

From what I hear, the truck heads and the LS1 heads have very similar castings. BUT, the truck heads (4.8 and 5.3) have a more restrictive exhaust port. Also the truck head uses 1.89" intake valves. So head to head, the LS1 would flow better than the truck head. The biggest difference is the truck head's chamber is about 59 cc while the LS1's chamber is about 67 cc. That gives the truck head better compression. You see alot of car guys running ported truck heads to take advantage of the higher stock compression.

Bottom line, the LS1 flows better, but has lower compression. There are no gains to be found just bolting them on (unless you have a supercharger!).

Why do you think the ls1 guys put the truck heads on....not to just raise compression, they could mill their own heads for higher compression.
