Default Head Gaskets???

I want to use new head gaskets for my LQ4, but dealer list is $260, I can get them for $165!!! Are these things really that expensive? The exhaust manifold gaskets were only $7 a piece. Are aftermarket better/ cheaper?

Yea. try scoggins dickey. Is your block a 2005? If so, the head bolts are different lengths than the 04 and earlier. They removed the long bolts and went with more of the short and medium lengths. You can order bags of them from SD as well. To buy a set for the 05 I was going to have to use the dealership, big $$. If you do have an 05 PM me and I'll get the part numbers for you, cheaper. Or just get a set of ARP reuseables and be done with it. (What I did)

I bought the Fel pro 's head gaskets but haven't installed them yet . Does anyone have any thoughts about these gaskets? I tried to order the stock gaskets but they were on back order from 3 different places from were I tried to order from.

block is an 04 with different length bolts. Going with ARP studs. Im just trying to do SOMETHING while my arm is all screwed. Im hoping to get the brakes done, take off the vortech, and get the STS on there with the new exhaust system in the next few weeks. I'll then be able to get the motor swapped in, up and running in a weekend. I hate driving the truck knowing what is in the garage.
