Default Gunked up Intake manifold

Ok, anyone built an engine or swapped throttlebodys or something?

If so then did you notice a nice thick black film behind the throttle body blade?

I was messing around with my intake, changing to a nicer coupling hose and was cleaning the blade. I ran a nice clean rag behind the blade though and the rag came back -black- WTF? My 03 doesn't have EGR or AIR injection so wtf is this crap?

I beleive that is caused from the PCV venting into the intake.

Yup, it's oil so just leave it be as it'll get soiled again...

This is another reason I am really thinking about doing a PCV catch can, I wonder how much more timing we would be able to run with a filtered PCV system.

the trucks are no where near as bad as the F-bodys withoil consumtion. Greddy makes some nice cans though. With the minimal amount of oil that does get through the PCV now i dont realy think you will see any HP or timing advantages. At most it might take a little longer to get dirty.

Thats it, Thanks!

I don't know why I didn't think of that , It just looked so sooty that I couldn't get my mind off of it being some burnt junk, or some kind of leaking.
