GT2-3 right for longtubes?
#1
I've almost decided on the GT2-3 cam from searching the boards extensively for my LQ4 + Radix 112 + WCCH stage 2 heads + T56 build but I've hit a snag. I've read conflicting reports as to which cam responds best to this combo PLUS longtubes. I've read that the GT2-3 was designed for use with stock manifolds and might not take full advantage of the better flowing exhaust. Anyone?

I dunno... in know of a few memebrs who run LT's with the GT2-3 with no problems...I did for a while but there was advance in the cam grind and i think it was out of sink with my set up so i switched do a different one.

I heard the same thing about that cam. I have it in my truck with stock manifolds, but i have a set of dynatech headers waiting to install, but not sure if it will help or hurt. I fell like the cam has alittle less bottom end then the stock but makes up for it in the upper end.

Not intending to ***** up your thread, but if a blower was "maxing out" would you be dropping boost in the upper rpms? I would think as long as you are holding your max boost through your shift points, you are OK, right?

I'm guessing here, but I'd bet that stock manifolds won't cost you too much HP on a 6.0L, with 112, a mild upgrade on the cam, and a free flowing exhaust. You can spend a whole of $$$$$ in a whole lot of places and you won't get a massive HP increase with a 112 on top of the motor. It only pumps so much air plain and simple.

I wanted to go with the long tubes also, but the $1100 price tag changed my mind. But i did get the JBA shorties and they seem to work really well with the GT-2 cam.Truck pulls real hard all the way to 6700rpm.
