I finally got my 6.0. Comes from an SS silverado with 5,000 miles. Tore into it yesterday and it looks great so far. I have to get an engine stand to flip it over and see what the bottom end looks like. As some of you know, my plans are to put some boost on here probably with a D1. I'm confused about the bottom end though. My original plan was to put forged pistons (drop to 9:1)and rings and let it eat, but it's gonna kill me to take apart a perfectly good bottom end. I talked to Allen Futral and he recommended putting forged pistons and leave stock crank and rods. I don't disagree with him at all, but I see all these SS silverado's slapping chargers on pushing 10 and 12 psi and they seem to hold up fine. I will add that I only want to do this once so should I put the money into it now while it's out or chance it till it blows?

The hot set up might be for you to use the stock crank and go with a long rods/ forged pistons .030 over would be 370CI.Contact these guys for more info.

Why risk it? You have the motor sitting there, and you plan on throwing boost at it.....and if you make the upgrades now, you won't have to worry about IF you can put more boost to it, you know that you CAN. I mean, if youare in a hurry, and your truck is down...OK...throw it in and be done.....BUT....if you have some time, do it right the first time and be DONE with it. That way youknow the motor does not have to come apart to throw more power at it. AND, if you let it ride as it is, and it DOES come apart, what's to say it doesn't take out a cylinder wall? crank? head? or whatver??? You ask me, if you have the time, do it right.
