Default Got my descreened Z06 maf, now fuel trim ?? again!

I think it makes a noticable difference in throttle response and according to my stop watch, my truck got quicker. Monday night I did a 0-40/0-60 run and the times were 3.19 & 6.28 respectivly with the stock maf. Last night I did two runs and the times were 3.07 & 6.11 and 2.98 & 6.11, I think that's a nice improvement. Now my fuel trim question. My LT's went from 0.00% at WOT with the stock maf to +.78% at WOT with the descreened Z06 maf. I've read that positive trims are lean and negative trims are rich, so my positive LT's mean I'm running a little lean at WOT, right? The Predator instructions say to + the "power inrichment" if you're lean and - the "power inrichment" if you're rich. So should I use my Predator to increase (+) the power inrichment +.78% to get the trims back to 0.00% at WOT or should I leave it slightly lean?

Maybe your ECM needs to learn the new mod first. Give it itme and it might fix itself.

Good suggestion! I didn't think about that, I've only put about 20 miles on it so far. How many miles does it take for the ECM to adjust to new mods?

Could be 50-100 miles. Just give it a week or so of driving and then recheck it.

Interesting. Jim, didn't you say this MAF was calibrated for being screenless? And have some timing built in?

All computers got through a "self learn" where they get reaccustomed to the new bits...I agree and put a few 100 miles on it and see.

Well, I thought I read some where that the GM did change the tuning some to account for the increased airflow but I could be wrong. All I know is that it does seem to work, throttle response is better and well, my butt dyno isn't always right but the stop watch has showed a slight increase. I've been doing the stop watch thing long enough to know that when I do back to back runs and the time is the exact same, the mod works.

Well, I 've heard the part number is the same but the part number on the Z06 maf is different than the part number on my OEM maf. My truck is a 2000, I thought I read when the 02's came out that the maf was changed some for better performance and mileage, I read it in a GM flier about the 02 trucks. Here's a link to the e-Bay auction where I bought the maf, you can read the sales pitch and decide for yourself.

Y2K - if that MAF does all that, then I think that you got a damn good deal. Keep us updated on this because this could be a really good mod, at least for me.

So far I'm happy with it on my truck but each truck does respond to mods differently. Granatelli claims a .1-.15 reduction in 0-60 and 1/4 times with their maf, the Z06 maf I got seems to do the same for about 1/3 of the cost of the GMS maf. Like I said though, this is on my truck, yours may different (my disclaimer ).
