Damn... nice work... at least you're taking it well, too! That makes two of us now. I don't know what the heck is so different about mine... the ring lands look fine on the pistons that remain and even the piston chunks that I found still have solid ring lands. I did take out the two worst valves tonight... wait till I post the pic on that! My #1 exhaust has two bends and a lot of cracks in the guide. SWEET
I'd say go with a six liter, but take steps to insure it's longevity-- do ARP rod bolts at a minimum-- but that may not even be enough insurance! Forged is the best option overall for the pistons and rods.

I had about 2K miles with 30* timing and about 7K miles with around 24* timing. Like I have said. I feel really strong that I got a bad batch of gas. The way the detonation came in so fast without even showing any KR whatsoever I think it must have been water in the gas. Granted I did have the tune on the ragged edge.
Update on new motor. Just ran across on a steal for a 6.0L long block with only 20k on it. It was pulled for oil consumption. I wasn't even looking for it it just fell in my lap. $500
. Going to tear it down tonight. Probably going to put some JE pistons in it, open the heads up a little, ARP rod bolts, and drop the compression to around 9:1.

Supposedly the way the intake is designed it causes that particular cylinder to lean out more than the other cylinders. If you ever look into a truck intake you will see how crazy it looks
